Summer 2008 All Star Tournament Play

Congratulations to the 14U Aftershock that won both the Peninsula League Championship and the Tournament Championship.

Summer Ball is here and this is what we are doing:

8U Flames are playing in the Quicksilver San Jose Slamboree June 7 and 8, and the Billie Sue on June 13, 14, 15 in Burlingame. The 8U Blaze is playing in Burlingame at the Billie Sue.

10U Flames played in Livermore over Memorial Day Weekend and made it to the quarter-finals to place 3rd. This weekend they play in the Morgan Hill Slugfest with the the 10U Blaze. Next weekend the Flames play in San Mateo. June 13,14,15 both teams are showcased in Burlingame's Billie Sue tournament at Ray Park. Then the Blaze take off for Redwood City on June 21,22. Finally we all wrap it up at NorCal? on June 26,27,28 in Sunnyvale.

The 12U Flames play this weekend in Millbrae along with our 14U Flames. The 12U Blaze had a great showing Memorial Day weekend in San Carlos for thier first tournament.

2008 Billie Sue Tournament

All 10U (B & C Divisions) and 8U All-Star teams looking for a fun tournament experience are invited to the 2008 Billie Sue Father's Day Weekend tournament to be held June 13, 14 & 15 at Ray Park and Franklin School in Burlingame. MEASURE O INFORMATION

Measure O is on the ballot in San Mateo County on June 3rd to provide new funding to support local parks and recreation. It increases the sales tax by just 1/8 of a cent with all of the funds going to support parks on top of existing funding. For less than $2/month per person, this measure would bring in an estimated $16 million a year for 25 years countywide to support parks and recreation programs. The best part about this money is that spending decisions are made locally. For my community, Burlingame, this additional funding is badly needed to convert playing fields to artificial turf, which would extend playing hours expanding field capacity. This is our best opportunity in years to get the money we need for local park field upgrades.
